... and the whole world laughs at you
You know how if you're a parent in a car with the kids on a road trip, or in a waiting room where there are other people sitting around, or when you're trying to make them go to sleep, and they're just talking and playing or whining endlessly. And every parent would say this, 'whoever can keep quiet the longest is the winner'. It's like a polite way, but also a fist-clenching and teeth-gritting way of saying 'just SHUT THE FUCK UP AND LEAVE ME ALONE for 10 minutes!' No matter if you're a mom or a dad, whatever your culture or upbringing is, you'll definitely say this at least once. But if you think about it, you're kind of helping them to build on their self restraint. To stop talking all the time and start listening for once. You don't have to always be talking the whole time you're awake. You should be setting yourself a quota of only 10 sentences a day where you really think about the words you want to use or choose the right moment to speak up. That way, we wouldn't have to contribute to this constant cacophony.
